Can someone please fill me in about these ‘qadiani’ or ‘ahmadis’ people?

This question was posted on the Yahoo! answers website and the responses posted by ignorant Internet users were typical of the anti-Ahmadiyya propaganda. I posted this as an answer:

You can learn about Ahmadiyya Islam at their official website http://www.alislam.org

They believe that the Messiah and Mahdi being awaited by Muslims has arrived in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, to spread the true peaceful message of Islam to the corners of the world. They have missions all around the world. Their members contribute and donate to spread the message and build mosques. They have just built the biggest mosque in Canada and are now building one in Ireland. They built the first mosque in Spain after 700 years. They run 24/7 TV channel called Muslim TV Ahmadiyya (http://www.mta.tv) again run by the donations of their members (unlike oil money of Arabs training terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan)

They have translated Holy Quran (yes of course same Holy Quran that was revealed to Holy Prophet) into 70 languages of the world and have established their missions in 190 countries.

Rest of the Muslims are still waiting for the Messiah/Mahdi.

That is only difference. Rest is all propaganda and lies by detractors.

Brutal murders in Indonesia – Open letter to President of Indonesia

I am writing to inform you of the continuous and repeated violations of human rights in Indonesia. As you must be aware, on February 6th 2010, 3 members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at were publicly killed in the streets of Cikeusik. The attack was conducted by some 700 people. Police failed to stop this even though they had been warned a few days before about an impending attack on the local Ahmadi Muslims. Reportedly, the attackers came to the local centre of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaaat, prepared with machetes, spears, knives and other weapons.

Even more appalling was that this attack was also caught on amateur video with a barbaric beating of two dead young men who already lay dead on the ground. I reiterate, they were not moving and yet they were continually being beaten and in the background you heard the crowd chanting “Allah o Akbar”. This video has now gone viral and has been submitted to various human rights organizations and has spread across the world. The attackers are clearly identifiable in this video. Up until now, no one has been arrested in regard to this event. We trust that the government will make every effort to arrest and charge those involved in this heinous act.

The members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at urge you to take action and stop the barbaric persecution of Ahmadis. According to the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, Section XI, Article 29: “The State guarantees each and every citizen the freedom of religion and of worship in accordance with his religion and belief.” The acts of violence against the Ahmadi’s are a clear infringement of this and a clear violation of basic human rights.

I am writing to encourage the government of Indonesia not to stray from the path of equal rights of its citizens. The current path of religious intolerance will only continue to escalate and worsen if nothing is done to help. I implore that the government, take a stance of justice and protect its minorities from all religious intolerance. As a Muslim, I’m spreading the word of these injustices to others and I want to ensure that we will not stop spreading the word of this persecution until the people responsible are brought to justice and Ahmadi Muslims safety is guaranteed in your country.

My Comments on AMENDMENTS TO THE BLASPHEMY LAWS ACT 2010

Originally posted here along with the proposed amendments.

These proposed amendments, while reflecting a promising start, don’t nearly go far enough; they preserve the explicit criminalization of Ahmadi activities (298B,C). Those provisions need to be repealed in their entirety. They have no basis in Islam and are in direct contradiction to article 20 of constitution.

Comment on Dr. Abdus Salam: Beyond Physics

A 4 year old article was reposted on Pakistaniat.com and as one can expect wherever the name Ahmadiyyat comes up, some jahil maulvi or a brain washed and brain dead Pakistani jumps on with idiotic propaganda about the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at. To set the record straight I posted a comment:

Lets separate myth from reality. Ahmadi Muslims are not allowed to practice their religion i.e. Islam in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the very holy name of Islam. See for youself Pakistani constitutional laws 298B & C. How ironic that can be? Anyone who thinks otherwise is a brain washed jahil mullah.

Ahmadis are as much Muslims as any other sect in Pakistan because their beliefs are 100% according to the teachings of Quran & Sunnah. Again anyone who thinks otherwise is a jahil coward who can’t even take little courage to go read their website and their beliefs @ alislam.org

All we have done in Pakistan is created jahalat in the name of Islam and extremism in the name of Islam. We all should be ashamed of being Pakistani today.

80 or 200 million Ahmadi Muslims?

This is in response to a recent post on the Internet. There has never been a census of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community that was published. Whether its 200 million or 80 million all are estimates. 80 million is a conservative estimate. The number of Ahmadis in some of the African countries is so large and diverse it is next to impossible to count them. It can very well be over 200 million worldwide. Having said that there is no denying the fact that Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is growing fast in every corner of the world through conversion. There is no breaking news except jahalat (ignorance) of the author of that post!

BBC Urdu succumbs to terrorists of Pakistan? No more unbiased reporting?

It appears that BBC Urdu has stopped doing fair reporting. Instead of calling Ahmadi Mosques as Mosques, they are now under the influence of extremists and terrorist and calling a mosque as “place of worship”. This can be seen in recent news reporting after the massacre of nearly 100 Ahmadi Muslims in Lahore.

Evidence one: Calling mosque a mosque in old reporting

Evidence two: Not calling a mosque a mosque |  Still Not calling mosque a mosque

It is a shame for BBC for not upholding its old traditions of unbiased reporting. It appears that BBC Urdu staff is under the influence of terrorist and un-Islamic ideologies of Maudoodi and the like. They not only insulted the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community by calling the Islamic funeral prayers of its martys in Lahore mosques as “aakhri rasoomat” but crossed into yellow journalism as well by using these new terms.

Where should one complain about this prejudice by British Broadcasting Corporation?

Martyrdom of Ahmadi Muslims in Lahore on 28th May 2010

The Promised Messiah (alaihi salam) wrote:

‘Don’t think that God will let you go to waste. You are the seed which the Hand of God has sown in the earth. God says that this seed will grow and flower and its branches will spread in all directions and it will become a huge tree. So, blessed is one who believes in what God says and does not fear the trials which he suffers in His path. For, the coming of trials is essential so that God may try you to see who is true in his declaration of Bai‘at and who is false. Whoever falters in the face of a trial would do no harm to God whatsoever and ill- luck would only land him in hell. Were he not born, it would have been better for him. But all those who remain steadfast till the end—they will be shaken with quakes of calamities, and battered with storms of misfortune, ridiculed and mocked by people, and hated and reviled by the world—shall at last come out victorious.’ (The Will, pg. 12)

No to Terrorism – Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Defending Islam while other Muslims are sleeping

Dr. Faheem Younus is the president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (USA) and was interviewed this morning by Fox News. While other non-Ahmadi Muslims are sleeping and waiting for the “Messiah”, the community founded by the Messiah is marching forward in defending Islam and spreading its true peaceful teachings. It is high time that non-Ahmadi Muslims should realize they are being left behind with terrorists and non-Islamic ideologies which are currently plaguing the Muslim Ummah. It is not too late to accept the Imam of the Time as was promised and prophesied by The Holy Prophet (saw) himself as the Mahdi (The Guided One) and Messiah, and join Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in spreading the real Islam.

The difference between Ahmadi Muslims and all other Muslims

We are at peace.  We do not hate any one or any nation.  We may not agree with some behaviors or policies, but we have a Khalifa appointed by God and because of this we have a unified community of 160-million Ahmadis.

Imam Shamshad interview transcripts May 7, 2010

“The fundamental difference between Ahmadi Muslims and all other Muslims is that we are not living in fear of either the Taliban or other extremist Muslims who more often than not terrorize their own Muslim brothers and sisters, nor are we living in fear of what the western nations may or may not do to us politically or militarily.

“And the reason for this is simple.  We are Muslims who believe in the Messiah.  We are the Muslims who have accepted the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who was foretold by the Holy Quran and by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw). . .

“We are at peace.  We do not hate any one or any nation.  We may not agree with some behaviors or policies, but we have a Khalifa appointed by God and because of this we have a unified community of 160-million Ahmadis.

“We are obedient to our Khalifa and to the Holy Quran which forbids terrorism and the killing of innocent people and we strive to be righteous and fully submitted to God.

“In short, Ahmadi Muslims strive to live by the Holy Quran, the example of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and by the guidance and rebirth of original Islam that came at the hands of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as).

“Our motto “Love for All – Hatred for None” is not just a slogan that Ahmadis say.  We are required to live by it.”

“If the rest of the Muslim world accepted the treasure we have to offer, the image of Islam in the world would change overnight.  There would be no more terrorism.”

Khatam-e-Nabuwwat – What is the difference?

Ahmadis and non-Ahmadis both claim they believe in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat, so what is the difference between the understanding? There is too much propaganda by the non-Ahmadi Mullahs against the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at since they are unable to present their understanding with reference to Quran and Hadith. This is not just a claim but a fact of the matter.

Ahmadis believe that Holy Prophet (saw) was the last law bearing prophet and Shariah has completed and there can be no prophet who can bring a new Shariah. Non-Ahmadis also believe this.

Ahmadis believe that no new prophet can come who is an independent prophet outside Islam. Non-Ahmadis do not believe this, as they believe Jesus son of Mary, who was a prophet towards Bani Israel according to Holy Quran and died a natural death and is buried in Kashmir, will come in the latter days from the heavens.

Now who believes in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat and who is breaking the Seal of Khatam-e-Nabuwwat by bringing a Prophet from the Ummah of Hadhrat Moses(as) into Ummah of Holy Prophet(saw)? Non-Ahmadis!

Ahmadis believe that only an Ummati (follower) of the Holy Prophet (saw) can be a prophet sub-ordinate to the Holy Prophet (saw) as prophesied in Sura Al-Jumu’ah. Non-Ahmadis say that no Ummati can become a prophet (although Holy Quran in Sura An Nisa, verse 59 says so!), however they say that Jesus son of Mary (a prophet) will become Ummati (follower) [We do not find any evidence in support of this as to how a Prophet will be stripped off the status of Prophethood and demoted to be an Ummati].

Now claiming that Ahmadis do not believe in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat has no basis, however if we say the non-Ahmadis do not believe in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat, it is pretty evident from the above understanding of theirs because they believe that someone from outside the Ummah will break the Seal of Holy Prophet and come in the Ummah.

However at the core the concept is same. Ahmadis believe Ummati becomes a prophet and non-Ahmadis believe a prophet (from outside Islam) becomes a Muslim and Ummati, the concept remains the same of Ummati Prophet – and my dear friends that is exactly the status of Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian – an Ummati Prophet.

The only differene is in the personality of that promised person, whether an old prophet of Bani Israel becomes a follower of Holy Prophet (saw) or a follower of Holy Prophet (saw) by following his perfect Shariah and teaching can become his sub-ordinate prophet. There is absolutely no other difference in the understanding of Khatam-e-Nabuwwat. Anyone who says Ahmadis do not believe in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat is a liar.

Now if we ponder over the Holy Quran and Ahadith it becomes clear that Jesus son of Mary (peace be upon him) died like all other human beings and prophets. So it means that whoever is promised is to be born in this Ummah. There is enough evidence of this in Quran and Hadith to support that a sub-ordinate prophet will be raised in the Ummah who will be like Jesus son of Mary (even Holy Prophet peace be on him described the Jesus son of Mary that was to come in the Ummah as distinctively different in his physical complexions to the one who was a prophet of Bani Israel).
