Islam Condemns Terrorism

Transcript of comments made by Mr. Naseem Mahdi on May 4, 2010 at a Press Conference held at the National Press Club, Washington, DC

We live in an expanding universe but the world is shrinking daily and it is so highly important for us all to discover and follow the paths that lead to peace.

I am going to make a few brief comments prompted by the recent attempted bombing in NY but necessitated by much broader considerations.

Islam condemns terrorism unreservedly and totally.

The Holy Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, India, had declared over 120 years ago that there is no place or justification found in Islam for violence whatsoever.

He said that Islam requires all Muslims to live in peace and harmony wherever they may be.

It is thus the duty and responsibility of all Muslims living in the US [or Canada in our case – Rationality.ca] to be loyal to the flag and to be law abiding citizens.

It is clear from the events happening all around that a small, fanatic, extremist minority of Muslims has hijacked the faith and continues to mislead and misguide the Muslims and ruin their total life.

In my considered opinion, such fanatics present a distorted view of Islam based on false and misguided interpretations.

For example such people say that it is not necessary for a Muslim to follow any non-Islamic government…This is utterly false..

If the vast majority of reasonable, peace-loving and law-abiding population of Muslims living in the US do not speak out and speak out loudly this will continue and ultimately ruin the lives, economic and social, of all Muslims and the community at large.

I am calling today on ALL MUSLIMS IN THE US to join me in condemning all actions of violence and terror caused or carried out by anyone whoever he or she may be.

I call on all of them to boldly claim and express with their tongue and action that they are loyal and law-abiding and obedient citizens of the United States of America.

This is fully in accord with the teachings of Muhammad, peace be on him, the Holy Founder of Islam, who said that hubbul watanay minal eeman.. (Love of one’s homeland, one’s place of residence, is a part of the Muslim’s faith..)

It is high time that Muslims living in the US wake up to their responsibilities and declare openly and repeatedly and loudly that they stand for peace and loyalty and are proud of it and that this is in fact what Islam itself requires of them.

Let me end by being totally forthright.

I say to those among Muslims living in the US who are not loyal or who do not want to be loyal that they are benefitting and enjoying all that this open, free, Country has to offer and yet they say that their loyalties are to another country or government.

I want to say to such people that they are not only living a false and hypocritical life but that they are thus also ungrateful and my advice to them is to be bold and leave and go and live in the lands where their loyalties belong.

The difference between Ahmadi Muslims and all other Muslims

We are at peace.  We do not hate any one or any nation.  We may not agree with some behaviors or policies, but we have a Khalifa appointed by God and because of this we have a unified community of 160-million Ahmadis.

Imam Shamshad interview transcripts May 7, 2010

“The fundamental difference between Ahmadi Muslims and all other Muslims is that we are not living in fear of either the Taliban or other extremist Muslims who more often than not terrorize their own Muslim brothers and sisters, nor are we living in fear of what the western nations may or may not do to us politically or militarily.

“And the reason for this is simple.  We are Muslims who believe in the Messiah.  We are the Muslims who have accepted the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who was foretold by the Holy Quran and by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw). . .

“We are at peace.  We do not hate any one or any nation.  We may not agree with some behaviors or policies, but we have a Khalifa appointed by God and because of this we have a unified community of 160-million Ahmadis.

“We are obedient to our Khalifa and to the Holy Quran which forbids terrorism and the killing of innocent people and we strive to be righteous and fully submitted to God.

“In short, Ahmadi Muslims strive to live by the Holy Quran, the example of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and by the guidance and rebirth of original Islam that came at the hands of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as).

“Our motto “Love for All – Hatred for None” is not just a slogan that Ahmadis say.  We are required to live by it.”

“If the rest of the Muslim world accepted the treasure we have to offer, the image of Islam in the world would change overnight.  There would be no more terrorism.”

Franklin Graham’s height of ignorance!

In a recent interview to CNN, Franklin Graham (a Christian evangelist) said some words of ignorance: “But true Islam cannot be practiced in this country. You can’t beat your wife. You cannot murder your children”

That just exposes how ignorant this Franklin Graham is. How can anyone take this gentleman seriously? This is a joke. CNN should raise their level of journalism and not entertain hatred and ignorance.

Those who want to learn about Islam should learn from the source. Islam means peace in every sense of the word. If some lunatics are exploiting the name of religion for their political gains it has nothing to do with Islam. You can read more about true Islam online.

LOVE FOR ALL, HATRED FOR NONE – Muslims that believe in Messiah!

Khatam-e-Nabuwwat – What is the difference?

Ahmadis and non-Ahmadis both claim they believe in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat, so what is the difference between the understanding? There is too much propaganda by the non-Ahmadi Mullahs against the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at since they are unable to present their understanding with reference to Quran and Hadith. This is not just a claim but a fact of the matter.

Ahmadis believe that Holy Prophet (saw) was the last law bearing prophet and Shariah has completed and there can be no prophet who can bring a new Shariah. Non-Ahmadis also believe this.

Ahmadis believe that no new prophet can come who is an independent prophet outside Islam. Non-Ahmadis do not believe this, as they believe Jesus son of Mary, who was a prophet towards Bani Israel according to Holy Quran and died a natural death and is buried in Kashmir, will come in the latter days from the heavens.

Now who believes in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat and who is breaking the Seal of Khatam-e-Nabuwwat by bringing a Prophet from the Ummah of Hadhrat Moses(as) into Ummah of Holy Prophet(saw)? Non-Ahmadis!

Ahmadis believe that only an Ummati (follower) of the Holy Prophet (saw) can be a prophet sub-ordinate to the Holy Prophet (saw) as prophesied in Sura Al-Jumu’ah. Non-Ahmadis say that no Ummati can become a prophet (although Holy Quran in Sura An Nisa, verse 59 says so!), however they say that Jesus son of Mary (a prophet) will become Ummati (follower) [We do not find any evidence in support of this as to how a Prophet will be stripped off the status of Prophethood and demoted to be an Ummati].

Now claiming that Ahmadis do not believe in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat has no basis, however if we say the non-Ahmadis do not believe in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat, it is pretty evident from the above understanding of theirs because they believe that someone from outside the Ummah will break the Seal of Holy Prophet and come in the Ummah.

However at the core the concept is same. Ahmadis believe Ummati becomes a prophet and non-Ahmadis believe a prophet (from outside Islam) becomes a Muslim and Ummati, the concept remains the same of Ummati Prophet – and my dear friends that is exactly the status of Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian – an Ummati Prophet.

The only differene is in the personality of that promised person, whether an old prophet of Bani Israel becomes a follower of Holy Prophet (saw) or a follower of Holy Prophet (saw) by following his perfect Shariah and teaching can become his sub-ordinate prophet. There is absolutely no other difference in the understanding of Khatam-e-Nabuwwat. Anyone who says Ahmadis do not believe in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat is a liar.

Now if we ponder over the Holy Quran and Ahadith it becomes clear that Jesus son of Mary (peace be upon him) died like all other human beings and prophets. So it means that whoever is promised is to be born in this Ummah. There is enough evidence of this in Quran and Hadith to support that a sub-ordinate prophet will be raised in the Ummah who will be like Jesus son of Mary (even Holy Prophet peace be on him described the Jesus son of Mary that was to come in the Ummah as distinctively different in his physical complexions to the one who was a prophet of Bani Israel).

Khatam-e-Nabuwwat – Who is Last Prophet? Holy Prophet or Jesus son of Mary?

Ahmadiyya belief about Khatam-e-Nabuwwat (Seal of Prophets) is 100% in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sayings and Ahadith of the Holy Prophet (saw). Ahmadiyya belief is simple that Holy Prophet (saw) is the Seal of the Prophets and any prophet who is outside this Seal cannot come. Holy Prophet (saw) himself prophecised about a prophet in his Ummah and Holy Quran has also promised a prophet obedient to Holy Prophet. This prophet is named Imam Mahdi and Promised Messiah and is also called Jesus son of Mary for its similarities. The Holy Quran categorically declares that old Jesus son of Mary was a human being and a prophet and died in this world like all other previous prophets. This has been discussed in detail in this very blog.

Our non-Ahmadi Muslim brothers and sisters are confused and lost as to who is actually the “last prophet” in their sense of belief that no prophet can come after the holy prophet. On one hand they believe that Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) is the last prophet and that prophethood of any kind is now closed and yet they still believe that an old prophet Jesus son of Mary will come to rescue the Muslim Ummah.

New or Old

Whether its a new prophet of old prophet, a prophet remains a prophet, so whoever comes at the last becomes the last prophet. So who is actually the last prophet according to non-Ahmadiyya belief?

Khatamun Nabiyyeen

According to non-Ahmadiyya belief  Jesus son of Mary is still alive. So after his coming to this world and death they believe there will be no prophet after him. So who is the one who ended prophethood? Jesus son of Mary or Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) after whose death the world is yet to see Jesus son of Mary?

Belief on an Ummati (non-Prophet)?

When they are trapped in the above quagmire of opposite beliefs they try to take an escape by making a lame and baseless excuse that Jesus son of Mary will not be a prophet. Inna lillahe wa inna ilaihi rajeoon.

First thing to note is that if he is not a prophet then no one needs to believe in him. There is no requirement in Islam to believe a non-prophet. Every Muslim child knows that their are six articles of faith in Islam: Unity of God, His Angels, His Books, His Prophets, The Last Day, and Divine Decree.

Jesus is a Prophet wherever he is
The Holy Quran says:

He said, ‘I am a servant of Allah. He has given me the Book, and made me a Prophet;
‘And He has made me blessed wheresoever I may be, and has enjoined upon me Prayer and almsgiving so long as I live; (19:30,31)

Do these non-Ahmadis want to take away his prophethood against the clear words of the Holy Quran?

Again Holy Quran says:

And will make him a Messenger to the children of Israel (3:49)

How do we bring a prophet that is only for the children of Israel to the Muslim Ummah? Is non-Ahmadiyya belief not against this very clear promise of Allah (swt)?

Testimony from Ahadith

1) Sahih Muslim is one the most authentic books of Ahadith. In one of the Hadith Holy Prophet (saw) has called Jesus son of Mary that will come in the Ummah as Prophet of Allah, not once, not twice but four times. Click here to see the Hadith.

2) In Mishkat, another book of Ahadith in the six most authentic books of Ahadith, the Holy Prophet (saw) said that he was Khatam an-Nabiyyin before the creation of Adam.

Both Ahadith make it clear that Khatam an-Nibiyyin is not one that comes at the end of line but has greater meaning that only Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and old scholars of Islam believe. Those who make a hue and cry of so called Khatam-e-Nabuwwat should come forward and explain this Hadith how come so many prophets came when Holy Prophet (saw) was Khatam an-Nabiyyin before the creation of Adam.

Making an Ummati from outside – not allowed!

In another Hadith quoted by Imam Jalal-ud-Din and copied by Ashraf Ali Thanvi (a deobandi scholar and an eminent adversary of the Ahmadiyya) is that Prophet Moses (as) wished to be among one of the prophets of Ummat-e-Mohammadiyya, however Allah (swt) said that Prophet of this Ummah would be from among themselves. Moses (as) requested to make him a follower (Ummati) of that Prophet, Allah said, your period is of the past and their age is of the last. (You can read this Hadith in original here in couple of pages)

Conclusion
To hold two opposite beliefs at the same time is not justice. You cannot call both Jesus son of Mary and Holy Prophet (saw) last prophet. Only one can be last. It is now your choice which one you want to make Khatam-un-Nabiyeen. For Ahmadi Muslims, Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) is the Khatam-an-Nabiyeen.

We are condemning violence for over 100 years!!!

Mary Kate Cary of USNews.com wrote a blog today titled: Islam Is a Religion of Peace? Fine, but Let’s See Some Proof

My comment is that the proof is Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC). AMC is a dynamic, fast growing international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, AMC is established in 193 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. AMC is the leading Islamic organization to categorically reject terrorism in any form.

Over a century ago, its founder, Ahmad, emphatically declared that an aggressive “jihad by the sword” has no place in Islam. In its place, he taught his followers to wage a bloodless, intellectual “jihad of the pen” to defend Islam and revive morality and peace in society. To this end, Ahmad penned over 80 books and tens of thousands of letters, delivered hundreds of lectures, and engaged in scores of public debates.

His book “British Government and Jihad” is a master piece on the subject. His successors has continued his message of love and peace. Another masterpiece on the subject is “Murder in the name of Allah” by Mirza Tahir Ahmad, his fourth successor. They are all available freely on the Internet: Islam, Jihad and Terrorism

AMC holds conferences and inter-religious dialogue in all parts of the world to remove misconceptions about Islam and to eradicate intolerance from the Muslim world by presenting the pure Islamic teachings based on Quran and traditions of Prophet of Islam, which is nothing but peace. It is ironic that Ahmadiyya Muslim followers are being persecuted in many Muslim countries because of this.

Book review: True Christianity and how it leads to Islam

Al Islam – the official website of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has published the book True Christiniaty and how it leads to Islam. The book is full of references from the Holy Bible to show that the actual teachings of the Jesus Christ are close to or in other words same as Islam’s basic beliefs of Oneness of God and Jesus Christ being a Messenger of God. It goes on to discuss other important matters and the conclusion comes out that by following the true teachings of Jesus Christ one automatically becomes a Muslim. The book is very consice and to the point and a good read in one sitting.

Khalifa is a Mujaddid by default!

Just received another spam (unsolicited) email from a dying breed of Munafiqs (hypocrites), titled “The Enemies of Hazrat Maseeh-a-Maud” who claimed that since Mujaddadis (Reformers) are promised to appear one should appear in Islam Ahmadiyyat.

The ignorant person forgot some basic facts:

1) Khalifatul Masih is a spiritual leader and becomes the mujaddid by default, because his main responsiblities are Tajdid! The entire 100 year history of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya is a witness to this fact.

2) A mujaddid does not make a claim that he is a mujaddid. People recognize him.

3) Believing someone to be mujaddid is not a requirement for belief nor Holy Prophet (pbuh) asked anyone to take bait of a mujaddid. This is in contrast to what this ignorant person claims about the so called “khatm-e-nubuwwat” concept which is a direct contradiction of the teachings of Holy Quran.

4) These hypocrites should present their mujaddid!

Long Live Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya!

Yellow journalism of Geo TV and Amir Liaqat of Jahil Online

On 7th September 2008, “celebrating” the 1974’s decision of the Pakistan’s National Assembly, GEO TV’s controversial program Aalim Online which in true sense is in fact Jahil Online spreading ignorance in the name of Islam, presented a very disturbing program about Khatme Nabuwwat in which the guest mullas promoted killing of Ahmadi Muslims. This obviously resulted in a protest from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Recently Geo TV has issued a response and called this “baseless” accusation.

I watched the program from start to end and although Aamir Liaqat did not give the fatwa (his guest did) but the way the whole program was “designed” by Amir it was indeed very provocative, highly insulting, full of lies, one-sided propaganda, that in no way comes near the Geo TV’s slogan “geo or jeno do”. In fact the sole purpose of the program was to insult and spread hatred through false propaganda against the already marginalized Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Pakistan. Whether certain Ahmadis received death threats or not the fact remains that this program promoted killing of Ahmadis and Geo TV did nothing to present any response from Ahmadiyya Jama’at. How can this be a “baseless” accusation is beyond comprehension.

If they have the slightest love for humanity they should give equal time to Ahmadis to present their views. They claim in their press release that they allow other minority groups to speak. Well actions speak louder than words. When was the last time they presented any news or report or view from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community? To put salt on the wounds they have in fact lowered themselves to such a pathetic state that they allowed this program to even be planned for 7th September, a dark day in the history of Pakistan. Would they now allow Brelvis to justify the Fatwas of Kuffar against Deobandis? And vice versa?

Unbelievable.

Largest mosque of Canada opens its doors for spreading love and peace in the West

CALGARY, July 6 /CNW/ – The Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, along with other distinguished guests, attended the banquet hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Canada to celebrate yesterday’s inauguration of the Baitun Nur Mosque. The mosque, one of the largest in North America, is a spectacular 48,000 square foot complex.

Calgary Mosque

The mosque inauguration was particularly significant as it occurred during the centenary celebratory year of the establishment of the institution of Khilafat (Succession) in the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, as well as its re-establishment in the Islamic world-at-large. Both the inauguration and the banquet were graced by the presence of the current Khalifa of the Community, His Holiness Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V (may Allah strengthen his hands).

During his banquet address, His Holiness emphasized that the Baitun Nur Mosque will convey messages of peace, love and harmony. He encouraged the political, community and faith leaders in attendance to join with his Community in conveying these messages.

His Holiness explained that, according to the teachings of Islam, Muslims must defend the sanctity of all places of worship, which includes churches, synagogues and temples, as well as mosques. Causing harm to and forcing religious beliefs upon others are against the commandments of God and the true
concept of Islam.

His Holiness warned that the world’s arsenal of nuclear armaments and weapons of mass destruction have brought humanity to the precipice of destruction, and future generations will not forgive any failure to contain this arsenal. Humanity needs to turn towards a true concept of religion and
strive towards loving God. To love God is to selflessly love and serve humanity in order to seek God’s pleasure. The Baitun Nur Mosque will be a center for such love and service.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper praised the Community by stating, “Ahmadis are renowned for their devotion to peace, universal brotherhood and submission to the will of God, the core principles of true Islam. They are also renowned for working together to serve the greater good through social, health and education initiatives, wherever they live in the world, Ahmadis are renowned for participating in the larger community and peacefully co-existing with people of all faiths, languages and cultures.”

Prime Minister Harper also paid tribute to His Holiness by referring to him as a champion of peace and religious freedom. The Prime Minister stated, “We especially applaud the Khalifa for denouncing those who pervert faith by claiming it as a justification for violence. Calgarians, Albertans and Canadians will see the moderate, benevolent face of Islam in this mosque and the people who worship here. They will see your love for Canada and your patriotism, and they will see that just as Ahmadis have embraced Canada, Canada has embraced you.”

Also sitting at the banquet head table were the Right Honourable Stephane Dion (Leader of the Opposition), Honourable Deepak Obrai, Honourable Lorne Calvert (former Premier of Saskatchewan), Honourable Ron Stevens (Deputy Premier of Alberta), Don Morgan (Saskatchewan Minister of Justice), Honourable Greg Sorbara (former Ontario Minister of Finance), Dave Hayer (BC MPP), Mohammed Amiri (Alberta MPP), His Worship Dave Bronconnier (Mayor of Calgary), Her Worship Susan Fennell (Mayor of Brampton), His Worship Don Atchison (Mayor of Saskatoon) and Bishop Fred Henry. Total attendance consisted of 6 Members of Federal and Provincial Parliament, 20 MLA’s, 9 mayors, 20 councilors and
aldermen, along with community, faith and leaders and members of academia and the media.

The banquet was televised live around the world via the Community’s 24-hour satellite television service, Muslim Television Ahmadiyya (MTA).
