Brutal murders in Indonesia – Open letter to President of Indonesia

I am writing to inform you of the continuous and repeated violations of human rights in Indonesia. As you must be aware, on February 6th 2010, 3 members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at were publicly killed in the streets of Cikeusik. The attack was conducted by some 700 people. Police failed to stop this even though they had been warned a few days before about an impending attack on the local Ahmadi Muslims. Reportedly, the attackers came to the local centre of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaaat, prepared with machetes, spears, knives and other weapons.

Even more appalling was that this attack was also caught on amateur video with a barbaric beating of two dead young men who already lay dead on the ground. I reiterate, they were not moving and yet they were continually being beaten and in the background you heard the crowd chanting “Allah o Akbar”. This video has now gone viral and has been submitted to various human rights organizations and has spread across the world. The attackers are clearly identifiable in this video. Up until now, no one has been arrested in regard to this event. We trust that the government will make every effort to arrest and charge those involved in this heinous act.

The members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at urge you to take action and stop the barbaric persecution of Ahmadis. According to the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, Section XI, Article 29: “The State guarantees each and every citizen the freedom of religion and of worship in accordance with his religion and belief.” The acts of violence against the Ahmadi’s are a clear infringement of this and a clear violation of basic human rights.

I am writing to encourage the government of Indonesia not to stray from the path of equal rights of its citizens. The current path of religious intolerance will only continue to escalate and worsen if nothing is done to help. I implore that the government, take a stance of justice and protect its minorities from all religious intolerance. As a Muslim, I’m spreading the word of these injustices to others and I want to ensure that we will not stop spreading the word of this persecution until the people responsible are brought to justice and Ahmadi Muslims safety is guaranteed in your country.

Response to The Calgary Herald – “Yes, Islam condones wife beatings” by Mahfooz Kanwar of Mount Royal University

This article, rather than contributing to any form of scholarly debate, merely highlights the same age old criticisms and attacks of the Orientalists. Judging the entire religion of Islam through the lens of Western perfection will no doubt cause it to appear defunct. Similarly, judging any other religion or culture through the same lens will produce the same results. Has the writer not read the Bible or the Bhagavad Gita? The reality is that nowhere do we find gender equality. However, Islam is the only religion, that having recognized the differences between males and females, protects each within their own unique spheres of life which they have been created for.

Although, every flippant statement of Kanwar’s can be counter argued, I will just take one point. Mahfooz Kanwar claims that “At birth, all infants are equal, but Islam makes then unequal”. This statement would be true if Kanwar was living in some form of Utopia, but if he is living on Planet Earth, then he would be shocked to learn that it is far from the truth. Women are still today fighting for basic rights in the most developed countries. Has Kanwar not heard of the Global Gender Gap Report published by the World Economic Forum? Women in the most developed nations are still fighting for equal pay, equal access to jobs and political representation.

The truth of the matter is human civilization and history is full of examples where one group; by virtue of them being physically, mentally, intellectually or financially stronger, perceives themselves to have the right to subjugate the other. Rather than argue back and forth over the meanings behind Arabic verses from the Holy Quran, I challenge Kanwar to show one example where the Founder of Islam, the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon Him, used force against any one of his wives. In the words of the Prophet himself, “the best among you is he who is best in his treatment of his wife” (Abu Dawud).

Comment on Pope calls on Pakistan to repeal blasphemy law

The Pope seems to have understood the ididocracy of the laws well. Just as he says, they are used to discriminate against minorities; especially Christians and Ahmadi Muslims. The laws do not serve to honor the Prophet Muhammad or Islam, for the Prophet taught us to love and respect all of Gods creatures and religions.

To all the followers of this perverted religion which we find in Pakistan, they should be reminded that there is no punishment in Islam for blasphemy. No such punishment is prescribed in the Holy Qur’an, or in any of the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad(saw). Islam promotes the need for respect of all religions for the sake of peace in society, but it does not set out any punishment for blasphemy despite the offence it may cause people of faith.

My Comments on Where did the blasphemy law come from?

Here are my comments on Where did the blasphemy law come from?

Since Blasphemy law in its current form (295-C) has no basis in Islam it can be repealed in a single day. This law wasn’t created by masses nor the Pakistani general public asked for it. It needs courageous leader who is not afraid of a bunch of jahil maulvis (ignorant self-proclaimed scholars of Islam).

My second comment

This is not rocket science. Islam’s source is Quran and Sunnah (practice of the Holy Prophet Muhammad peace be on him). Both sources are 100% opposite to the Blasphemy law of Pakistan.

Those who support blasphemy law are insulting Allah, Quran and Holy Prophet (peace be on him). They are the biggest blasphemers themselves. They promote extremism and anti-Islamic ideology of “holy war” to kill anyone who does not agree with them. They are the ones producing terrorists who consider all Pakistanis as potential target. And yes they are the same people from whom the Holy Prophet (peace be on him) warned the Ummah.

And yes they are the same people who were against the creation of Pakistan in the first place. They don’t teach us that in history lesson!

And yes they are the same people that Bhutto, Zia and Musharraf and every government used for their own benefit.

This jinni is now a giant beast and out of control. God bless Pakistan.

As you sow, so shall you reap.

My third comment

Whether Aasia is guilty or not is irrelevant. In Islam there is no punishment for blasphemy. If Pakistan was created in the name of Islam then it must cleanse itself from un Islamic laws created by jahil maulvis. However if Pakistan follows some other religion then the discussion is irrelevant. Do whatever pleases you.

Blasphemy Law of Pakistan – an insult to Islam

Some of my comments on recents blogs: Blasphemy law: An apparatus to sustain tyranny:

The foreign policy has already changed. The wrong policy of breeding terrorists on our soil and then sending them to foreign lands have already stopped (apparently?). The internal policies must be changed as well and we need to get rid of all these draconian laws which were created in the holy name of Islam.

Only an idiot and jahil brain washed mullah can support such non Islamic laws which have no basis in Quran or Sunnah. They are doing nothing but creating bad name to Pakistan and Islam and making lives of Pakistanis miserable.

All I need to bring you down is to accuse you of blasphemy and let the wrath of public deal with you. Not only we need to get rid of these laws, we need a state sponsored education program to counter these un islamic and barbaric ideologies to end. The same way dictator Zia used his rule to brain wash people in thinking this is Islam! It is NOT! It’s a long way to go but it has to start some where?

Another one: Stand up against the blasphemy laws

Blasphemy law has not justification in Islam. It has no basis in Quran or Sunnah. It is a fabrication of military dictator Zia to prolong his rule on the instigation of jahil maulvis. We do not want jahalat in Pakistan. We want to stand tall and proud now as Pakistanis. Let’s get rid of mistakes & jahalat of the past. May Allah enable us to do so. Ameen.

What secularism and why secularism?

This blog post appeared in Tribune. It has touched upon many aspects of this topic but one important issue wasn’t touched.

Even if consider for a moment that theocratic state was an ideal solution, which religion or sect would that state follow? Islam has so many sects which are diagonally opposed to each other in their interpretation of Islam, it is practically impossible to come up with an unbiased theocratic state. The freedom of religion guaranteed in the Holy Quran is for all and not just for a select group of self-proclaimed Muslims. Hence we are left with no other choice but to separate religion and state for the functioning of a civilized society that maintains social harmony and freedom for all to practice their faith and interpretation of their religion without the fear of state persecution.

Ahmadi Muslims believe in separation of state and religion. Visit MuslimsForPeace.org to learn more about the Peaceful Islam.

Muslims must learn to speak the language of bullies?

This article appeared in Tribune blog. It is an interesting piece no doubt about it and the author has elaborated on the double standards shown towards Muslims. However it is quite ironic.

The bullying goes on with full media and state sponsorship in Muslim countries by Jama’at-e-Islami and the like minded anti-Islamic ideologies that believe in force and compulsion against the very teachings of Holy Quran. A country that was created in the name of Islam, Pakistan, has introduced anti-Islamic laws in the very name of Islam to defame Islam world over under pressure of these mullahs (read: bullying), what could one expect as a reaction to these bullying? Actions speak louder than words.

Non-Ahmadi Muslims have to act like Muslims first and eradicate the elements of bullying from among themselves before they question others. They have utterly failed in that by keeping quiet for too long. The silent majority has to wake up now!

Ahmadi Muslims have been condemning this bullying which has no place in Islam for over 120 years. Visit MuslimsForPeace.org to learn more about the Peaceful Islam.

Martyrdom of Ahmadi Muslims in Lahore on 28th May 2010

The Promised Messiah (alaihi salam) wrote:

‘Don’t think that God will let you go to waste. You are the seed which the Hand of God has sown in the earth. God says that this seed will grow and flower and its branches will spread in all directions and it will become a huge tree. So, blessed is one who believes in what God says and does not fear the trials which he suffers in His path. For, the coming of trials is essential so that God may try you to see who is true in his declaration of Bai‘at and who is false. Whoever falters in the face of a trial would do no harm to God whatsoever and ill- luck would only land him in hell. Were he not born, it would have been better for him. But all those who remain steadfast till the end—they will be shaken with quakes of calamities, and battered with storms of misfortune, ridiculed and mocked by people, and hated and reviled by the world—shall at last come out victorious.’ (The Will, pg. 12)

No to Terrorism – Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Defending Islam while other Muslims are sleeping

Dr. Faheem Younus is the president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (USA) and was interviewed this morning by Fox News. While other non-Ahmadi Muslims are sleeping and waiting for the “Messiah”, the community founded by the Messiah is marching forward in defending Islam and spreading its true peaceful teachings. It is high time that non-Ahmadi Muslims should realize they are being left behind with terrorists and non-Islamic ideologies which are currently plaguing the Muslim Ummah. It is not too late to accept the Imam of the Time as was promised and prophesied by The Holy Prophet (saw) himself as the Mahdi (The Guided One) and Messiah, and join Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in spreading the real Islam.
